We will take a break in our regularly scheduled program of updating my 1SE videos on the blog to bring you up to date on our furlough adventures. We have been in Canada for about 2 1/2 months now and we have 2 weeks left before heading back to Congo.
We started with a lovely and very busy 6 weeks in Ontario. We spoke at Hawkesville Mennonite Church, Fairview Cambridge Retirement Home, Fairview Alliance Church in Montreal, Du Berger in Quebec City (this was the Church we attended while learning French) and lastly Guelph Bible Chapel.
We had the privilege of attending a memorial service for my Great Uncle Richard see many extended family members on my Dads side. We were able to stay with my Grandma in her new Condo. The kids had fun learning to pick raspberries and exploring the farm.
Then we had a family reunion on my moms side at my Aunts farm, it was so much fun to see my cousins, second cousins, their kids and try to figure out how exactly we are all related :-P.
We are so thankful for these churches who surround us in prayer and support. We also visited with a lot of amazing friends and supporters who we haven't seen in 3 years. We spent a good amount of time at the MAFC office and even were able to attend the open house for the new office.
This new office space will help those who support the mission staff over seas do their jobs more effectively. We also traveled to Montreal and Quebec City for a week and half, speaking at 2 churches and visiting supporters. Our good Friend Luke flew up from the US to come hear us speak, it was good to spend time with him for a few days as well.
So much fun time spent with Auntie Charity and Emery |
We then traveled to Alberta where we have spoken at Northgate Baptist, Westlock Gospel Chapel, Bethel Union Church and Trinity Reformed. We also will be speaking at Muir Lake Community Alliance Church September 8th at 10 am if anyone has missed seeing us so far.

After that Nick and I enjoyed attending a marriage retreat for a week, where we took a break away from the kids, internet and stresses of work and just focused on our relationship with each other and with God.
We also had the privilege of meeting and spending time with 3 other couples that serve in ministry in Canada or over seas.
While we were retreating Ruth and Pascal went with their Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle and cousins to the lake.
We are now back at our 'home base' in Spruce Grove finishing up some last min appointments, shopping, visiting and attending a wedding before flying back to Kinshasa.
We are looking forward to getting back to Kinshasa, getting the kids in school, getting back to work and ministry. Our time in Canada has been refreshing and encouraging. We are so blessed to be able to bring the news of what God is doing in Congo to those who faithfully support the mission here in Canada. Before we can head back in 2 weeks we need to be at 100% of our monthly support.
We are currently at 96% and need about $300/mo to be 100% supported. Prayerfully, if you feel lead to start supporting our Ministry with MAF or to increase your existing support can do so by clicking here. We would not be able to serve in the Congo with Mission Aviation Fellowship without you.
