Back in Business

We are now back in Congo! We had such a great time over the summer spending time with friends and family in Canada. Alberta was a great mix of visiting supporters and also having some good rest. We were blessed by having some missionary friends who were gone for a few weeks offer us their house while we waited for the house we are going to move into to be done. We have really enjoyed staying in their place for the last month and we will be moving out at the end of this week... But not into the new house.
The house had some delays so we will actually be moving on to another missionaries house who just left on home assignment. We hope at this point to be into the house by the beginning of December, if you could continue to pray with us that we would be able to move over soon. Regardless of all the transitions the kids are doing well, they are excited to move into this next house because we will be living with Corrine who just joined our program. She joined MAF to help in administration, she will be leading our flight operations at the hangar.

The duplex... not quite done yet
This will be a nice time to stay with her because Nick will be heading out for another 2-3 weeks starting next week. Nick traveled a few weeks ago to help fly with our base in the East since they had to evacuate because of a case of Ebola in their village. They are down to 2 pilots for 3 planes and needed some help. Nick is enjoying his new freedom of not carrying the load of program manager anymore, this allowed him to be able to go at the last minute and help. He was also able to visit the Panzi hospital while he was there and was broken hearted when he came home after seeing the reality of the horrible atrocities of sexual violence that the women there deal with on a daily bases.
He will be going back out East to next week after WDRC conference to help flying. Im not to sure what he will all be up to but I am happy to move in with Corrine to have some company while Nick is away.

Nick also had the opportunity to help to complete an external audit for the program last week. Nick has gone through 4 of these types of audits in the last 8 years and he was excited to be able to help train up others on the program on how to prepare and go through one. The auditor was actually the same person that did the very first audit Nick was a part of 8 years ago, the program was at a very different place at that time as we were just getting started in changing over from a FAA type system to an ICAO system. This time the auditor was impressed to see all of the positive changes the program has made and encouraged us to continue on improving.
So life has been busy, but everyone is doing well and I am just trying to keep track of where all of our stuff is :-P

To continue on with posting my 1second everyday videos, here is the video from Aug to Oct 2018... Now at least I am caught up to a year ago o_0 haha. Here is the end of the summer and into the school year of 2018. Ruth went into grade one and Pascal into M2 or Junior Kindergarten. Before we went back to school we headed to our favourite camping spot with some teammates. Ruth and Pascal had a great first day of school, their teachers are awesome and the kids really connected with them. Ruth is officially out of the little kids section and into primary school. Nick was busy flying and with keeping up with the Ebola response. We saw the arrival of what would become our good friends (and that they would move to Kinshasa and into our house) the Erikksons are Swedish missionaries who moved to Mbandaka. I (Jocelyn) was also busy at the beginning of the year with board events and meetings. You also see the start of what would be a very long construction of the MAF duplex. From Oct 14-15 Nick was able to do a flight for DFID looking at a water project. We then had our annual WDRC Conference where the member care team from MAFUS came to do a coaching seminar with our team.

Support our Ministry with MAF

Managers / Pilots / Mechanics / Administrators are needed on the field. As a pilot and advisor, Nick plays a very important role of flying and advising on operations in the WDRC program. DRC is one of the most difficult places to do 'business' there are as many or more difficulties going into the office then flying over the jungles of Congo. However difficult his job is a necessary one; there are numerous isolated places and people in Congo that need MAF to be here.

The only way that we can continue to do the work that Gad has laid before us in Congo is by your generous donations.

We are aware that some partner with us for only a season which leaves an opportunity for others to come along side our ministry; because of that we are always looking those who will partner with us in our ministry with MAF to be able to keep our fundraising goal at 100%. Would you prayerfully ask God if He is prompting you to be a part of our ministry?
