We have been a little crazy for the last couple weeks. Nick
went to Ontario to bring a van here to Quebec for the next missionaries and got
to visit with his family and go to a friends wedding. He has an awesome time
being able to spend some one on one time with his family and friends. We do
have a week in Ontario but it seems already packed with lots of things to do.
Then on June 12th (and the 19th) it was our one-year
anniversary! It still feels like we just got married last month! It’s crazy to
thing that it was now over a year ago! Nick and I went hiking in the morning,
which we never found the trail but we found a lake and a little boat and so we
took it for a spin around the lake... lol it was lots of fun. Then Nick spoiled
me with a night at a bed and breakfast on L'ile d'orleans. My favorite place
here in Quebec. It was fun time to get away and hang out.
Ensuite, we had some new friends come and stay here for an
evening, they were here in Quebec participating in the Tour de Beauce, which is
like the Tour de France but here in Quebec. They rode 6 days in a row with about
140km a day! I couldn’t do it that’s for sure, it was inspiring to see all of
the hard work and dedication they put into something that they just love!
Then we had a
wonderful visit from Nick’s aunt and uncle Gary and Mel!! We had such a fun
time with them and got to see lots of awesome things around Quebec. They were
here for 4 days and we did the tour of Old Quebec, saw Montmorency falls
climbed a whole bunch of stairs, toured around the island and went to the
aquarium! It was a packed couple of days but it was so fun to have them here
and be able to show them where and how we live!
And as of yesterday we have officially finished our French
classes!!! I can’t even believe that it has been almost a year since we have
been here learning! So now that we have finished ever one is probably wondering
if it is enough, will be able to get by... Well I think that we have learnt
quite a lot, Nick got to a point with our teacher that she didn’t really have
much else to teach him. And just like anything else that we learn now is the
time to put it into practice. (Not that we haven't been practicing :P) But that
now to use it everyday life, in our work and our play I believe is going to be
our true test. Are we ready... well if God got us this far I'm sure he will
help us the rest.
Also as of yesterday marks the 3-month mark till we leave for
the Congo! We are moving our of our apartment next week and moving into another
one just for 2 weeks until the next missionaries that are coming here to learn French
will be here, so we will be packing up and preparing to go until they get here!
So please keep us in your prayers as there are lots of
things to do and I'm sure we don't even realize the half of it :-)
(sorry that the font and pictures are a little messed up in this post I dont think I have ever had to must trouble trying to format it... haha hopefully the next one will be better for me)
