Well it's not really on the Prairie but we think its a pretty cool little house. I would like to introduce you to our guest house! We got it all ready last week for our Bosses Boss and his wife to come and stay with us (who are FANTASTIC people and i was glad i got to hang out with them for a week :-) Nick and Matthew put a lot of work into fixing up this place to make it cozy and livable for those who would like to stay with us. There are still lots of things that we will try to equip our little house with as the months go along (and funds become available) we do need to replace the roof there are a couple of little leaks. This little house was one big reason why we moved into the house that we did, we wanted the ability to host and to host well. We now have this beautiful place open for MAF visitors coming and other people needing a place to stay in Kinshasa. We will be getting a new mattress for the bed as this one was borrowed hopefully if we can find mosquito netting ( not already made into a specific size) are hoping make a frame around the bed so that it would be possible to sleep on the top bunk but anyways enjoy the pictures and if you could say a prayer that God would bless all who stay here that would be much appreciated!
Nick takes lots of pictures with his blackberry while he flies to try and show everyone what is he doing, however I'm not to sure how much traffic Nicks Facebook gets so I think I will start posting some here. Here is a couple pictures from Nick about. One is a couple days ago right before take off of Beauutiful Congolese sunrise and then one of the flight Nick did today were for some pastors and lastly we have received some new logos for the planes and this is Rod Hochstetler putting it on! Looks pretty snazzy hey!
And lastly a bit of 'Blue Steel' from Rue ^_^ haha

Hey everyone! So my computer has officially died and so this is my first blog off the iPad! I hope to continue to keep you updated however the pictures will probably be just ones that I have taken on my iPad instead of my camera.
A couple of days ago I was cooking in the kitchen and I often look at recipes on my computer however as our kitchen isn't fully finished i had it set on not a very sturdy surface... Which when I went to close my computer it then fell onto the ground. I was so angry at myself... It worked for a couple of days after that until it decided it just wouldn't turn on anymore...
I'm praying... God PLEASE heal my computer (he does that sort of thing right?!) because I live in Congo where there is no AppleCare or store to quickly get my computer fixed at... And as everyone knows I do a lot of stuff on my computer, I do newsletters, photos, school work, ugh lots of stuff but now if I want to get it fixed I need to send it back to Canada, but there is no postal system really so I have to fine someone to send it with... I think at this point I am physically sick thinking about all of this.
So you know what? I cried. Yup that's right I cried for my broken computer and being in a country that doesn't have an apple store. Because you know what? Congo hates electronics. It does. Really no joke. It's humid here all the time, it rains all the time, there is sand everywhere and all the houses have tile floor. If anything was less electronic friendly I don't know what it would be.
But after I cried over my poor poor self and my obsessive love for my computer and everything on it, I got over myself and remember that there is a couple here in Kinshasa right now adopting from Alberta. Hmm that's convenient. And I have this FANTASTIC sister in Alberta that is willing to take my computer to the Apple store and get it fixed, then hopefully in a couple weeks when it's fixed there are some Pilots with MAF that will be traveling back and they can bring it back to me.
So you know what, I'm probably going to break more stuff, or Congo may break more stuff but luckily God teaches us to be open handed, so then he can put stuff in it and take stuff out and teach me that it's OKAY and he always takes care of his Children even when they let their computer fall on the floor. We are so spoiled to have such an amazing Father who just happens to be The Lord if the universe.

Does time really move so fast?!
I always heard parents about about kids or other people kids saying they grew so fast or where did the time go... and to be honest I always thought those comments were a little bit absurd. People grew and become older... its just what happened. However today Ruth is 6 Months old! 6 Months already... and I can say with all conviction... Where did the time go!?
However I do not say it in a way that means I think I have missed anything, I do think that I (and everyone on Facebook) have faithfully watched this little girl grow over the last 6 months and its been so wonderful! She is so much fun and well just so cute.
We also have moved into our very first HOUSE! This may not be Nicks first house but it is mine and it is our first house together! So exciting to have a little bit more room and a yard to enjoy. Even though we lost our pool (although Nick and matthew and been scheming about how to get a pool here) our new house is so peaceful and now have room to host more then 2 people at a time... and we did indeed baptize our house with its first party having about 50 people!
For Ruth's first christmas experience we were really quite busy, we were moving into our new house right up until christmas and still have lots of things to work on.
We went to and hosted several parties!
We had an awesome party with all the adopting parents that we knew that were 'stuck' in Kinshasa over christmas. Awesome time of spaghetti and air conditioning. This was so cool because like Ruth this was the first christmas with their forever families for these beautiful children. There are many complications in the process here in Kinshasa but God has an awesome plan for each child and each family. You can tell that it is really a match made in heaven. I don't know what God has in store for these children however I know from the look in their parents eyes that they will sure be loved like they never will be loved before.
Then an MAF party, filled full of more spaghetti and pizza!
THEN we had a party with our guards and all of their children.
And then a new years party... Even though Ruth may have slept through most of these parties she seemed to have fun and did quite enjoy her first christmas alive! Thats quite the thing, first christmas ever, I wonder what she is thinking.

I will not post picture of the adopting families at the time as some are still working through paperwork. |

Support our Ministry with MAF
Managers / Pilots / Mechanics / Administrators are needed on the field. As a pilot and advisor, Nick plays a very important role of flying and advising on operations in the WDRC program. DRC is one of the most difficult places to do 'business' there are as many or more difficulties going into the office then flying over the jungles of Congo. However difficult his job is a necessary one; there are numerous isolated places and people in Congo that need MAF to be here.
The only way that we can continue to do the work that Gad has laid before us in Congo is by your generous donations.
We are aware that some partner with us for only a season which leaves an opportunity for others to come along side our ministry; because of that we are always looking those who will partner with us in our ministry with MAF to be able to keep our fundraising goal at 100%. Would you prayerfully ask God if He is prompting you to be a part of our ministry?
