Dwell on these things

Thursday, August 20, 2015

Life seems so fleeting lately; as a friend said the other day 'the days pass slow but the weeks fly by'. There will be weeks where I don't see friends of mine in Kinshasa just because life here is so full of things to do, fires to put out, and stresses to manage.

MAF here in Kinshasa is no different, Nick told me the other day that he worked it out that it takes about 10 man hours on the ground for every 1 hour of flight.
When Nick gets to fly he says that those are his hours of peace, in comparison to the hours when he is flying a desk. At the desk there are tax collectors, government officials, papers to sign, decisions to make, requests for last minute flights, and get away from it all before his kids go to bed.
They do indeed love to play together!
So often, there could be one really great hour or one really great event and then it gets over shadowed by several bad ones. When this happens it makes it really hard to hold on to those good moments or those great flight hours.

With these feelings of the days escaping away from me I have been
trying to find moments and just soak them in, even sometimes if those moments just make me want to run for my camera, I find myself just enjoying it instead.
Moments where my kids love each other instead of stealing each other's toys. Moments when Nick comes home with stories of victory and accomplishment instead of stories of frustration.
When those moments happen, I tell myself to soak in every detail and not to forget it...
Exciting for Nick is that Matthew Lind is now here as
Office Manager. Which is a huge help!!
Unfortunately I still forget.
I get distracted by something else that needs to be done, that tax collector comes in again, the rulage pull you over, or the power goes out just at the wrong time. For some reason it's those moments that stick to our souls and sour our mood much easier then those moments of peace.

Then I have to start all over again.

Which may be why Phillipans 4:8-9 encourages us by saying:

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."

Some time in the last few weeks
this baby turned into a young Boy
Maybe it's because God knows that this life is a difficult one and that the enemy of our souls is trying to steal our peace. But God says 'fight through it, there is still good, there is still lovely things. Don't let the ugly things of the world steal away that knowledge.'

So though I write this, I will probably forget my own advice and get frustrated by some injustice or something so trivial as stepping on a toy; but then I hope that God will bring me back around remind me that indeed my God is a God of peace and to think on such things.

Support our Ministry with MAF

Managers / Pilots / Mechanics / Administrators are needed on the field. As a pilot and advisor, Nick plays a very important role of flying and advising on operations in the WDRC program. DRC is one of the most difficult places to do 'business' there are as many or more difficulties going into the office then flying over the jungles of Congo. However difficult his job is a necessary one; there are numerous isolated places and people in Congo that need MAF to be here.

The only way that we can continue to do the work that Gad has laid before us in Congo is by your generous donations.

We are aware that some partner with us for only a season which leaves an opportunity for others to come along side our ministry; because of that we are always looking those who will partner with us in our ministry with MAF to be able to keep our fundraising goal at 100%. Would you prayerfully ask God if He is prompting you to be a part of our ministry?
